Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
