Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the group reach places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
